She wears a cream blouse with black polka dots and frilled, bell-shaped sleeves. Her eyes are lowered and she smiles at the dogs gathered around her, drawn in flat shapes with strong outlines.

Three dogs fill the lower half: a large white and tan long-haired dog looking up at the biscuit, a slim tan greyhound-type with a white collar, and a small fluffy white dog in the bottom left corner. Black lettering across the top reads "SPRATT'S PATENT Ltd". The right side carries French text: "Les meilleures nourritures pour chiens gibiers et volailles", with a note about awards at the Paris exhibitions of 1889 and 1900. The palette is chocolate brown, cream and tan, in an Art Nouveau style.

Where it hangs

Suits a hallway, laundry, home office or dining room, and pairs well with dog lovers' collections, vintage French signage or warm timber furniture.
