Both claws are raised at the top, and eight jointed legs spread out to the edges. The shell has a serrated front edge and small spines between the eyes.

Behind the crab sits an old French sea chart in muted brown and grey. Visible words include "L'OCEAN", "NORWEGE", "SUEDE", "ESPAGNE", "Golfe de Gascogne", "Mer de Portugal" and "MER". Two small ships sail inside a cartouche at top left, and compass roses mark the lower right and left. The mood is faded and nautical.

Where it hangs

Suits a beach house, bathroom or dining room, and looks good with navy linen, driftwood and brass.
