Three men in peaked caps ride inside, and one of them aims a long field glass or small gun over the side. Behind the car a thick white cloud of dust or smoke billows against a grey-green mountain.

Across the top, a long red-brown airship drifts past with a slim open gondola frame slung beneath it, its propellers visible. Bold red capitals read "CLEMENT-BAYARD" with a drop shadow, and the caption "En Reconnaissance" sits in cream letters on the black band below. Small publisher lines run along the bottom edge. The peach, mottled sky and flat colour give it an early French advertising look.

Where it hangs

Suits a home office, living room or gentleman's room, where the red car and black base work against charcoal or deep green walls.
