Behind him is a pale blue sky streaked with soft white cloud. Across the top, bold black capitals read "TREVISO", with "9-10-GIVGNO-1928" beneath, and two crest shields sit at the upper left, one topped with a crown and one with an eagle.

At the bottom, a red brick palazzo with crenellated walls, a clock tower and arched windows glows against the grey-blue sky. A black border of gold-outlined leaf scrolling runs down both sides. Beneath the scene the text reads "CONVEGNO POMPIERISTICO DELLE TRE VENEZIE" and "A CURA DELLA SOCIETÀ TARVISIUM". The flat colour and heavy lettering give it a 1920s Italian feel.

Where it hangs

Suits a home office, dining room or gentleman's room, where the strong red and black read well against cream or grey walls.
