21 April 2021- Set to reignite Australia’s art scene, THE LUME Melbourne will be launched this autumn at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

In the past, you could only view great masterpieces from afar, as they hang on the walls of silent museums and art galleries. But now, THE LUME presents an innovative way of truly immersing yourself in art.

If you’re ready for a multi-sensory experience, set a schedule on your calendar to visit Australia’s one-of-a-kind digital art gallery!

What is THE LUME?

THE LUME is a 3,000 square metre, 11 metre high immersive art space by Melbourne’s Grande Experiences. It will be permanently located within the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre at South Wharf.

Instead of just looking at framed art on walls, here you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped inside the paintings themselves, as the incredible masterpieces will be displayed onto the walls using 150 state-of-the-art projectors. There will also be accompanying sounds and scents pumped into the gallery for a unique multi-sensory experience.

There are no set paths-- it is up to you to explore the gallery and immerse yourself into your favourite artworks.

Starting autumn this year, THE LUME Melbourne will operate seven days a week, 365 days a year. You can sign up for early access by registering at  THE LUME’s official website.

Van Gogh at THE LUME

For the inaugural experience at THE LUME Melbourne,  Vincent van Gogh’s most famous artworks including The Starry Night and The Sunflowers will be on display. While the Dutch master’s works have been exhibited throughout the century, they have never been featured with a symphony of sounds and aromas.

Transcend time and space in an awe-inspiring adventure into art at THE LUME. Journey through the Netherlands, Paris, Auvers-sur-Oise, Saint Rémy, and Arles as you witness Van Gogh’s greatest masterpieces come alive.

If you want to be a part of this epic experience, watch out for the digital gallery’s opening. Tickets will be on sale by the middle of this year.
