About Bold Warrior
Three tall, elongated figures stand shoulder to shoulder across the centre of the canvas, seen from behind. Each wears a dark maroon torso and a short ochre skirt, with thin stick legs planted on a sandy rise. Two carry round, disc-shaped shields marked with pale flecks; slender curved bows arc above their heads, and the right-hand figure lifts a small ring into the air. A grey clay pot sits between the first two. The background is a pale blue-white wall crusted with heavy impasto specks, with a ribbed ochre panel at the right edge.
The mood is quiet and ceremonial rather than combative, with the gritty plaster-like surface giving the whole scene the feel of a weathered wall painting.
Suits a lounge or dining wall with warm neutrals, rattan, timber and linen, and works well above a sideboard or leather sofa. The ochre and rust tones sit comfortably with terracotta pots, woven baskets and jute rugs, and the pale background keeps it light in hallways and entries.
