About 30 Dots
A square canvas filled with turquoise and teal, marked out by five horizontal rows of six painted discs. The circles are shaded to read as raised buttons or rivets, each with a lighter crescent of light along the upper edge and a soft shadow beneath. Faint ruled lines run behind them, dividing the surface into panels like a sheet of pressed metal. Toward the lower third the blue deepens into a dark band that sinks the last row of dots into shade.
The paint is applied in thin, flat washes with the weave of the canvas showing through, so the illusion of relief comes from tone rather than thick texture. It is a quiet, orderly picture: repetition and a single colour family doing all the work.
Suits a bathroom, hallway or bedroom where a single cool colour can settle the room, and works well above a low sideboard or a bedhead. Pairs with white or pale grey walls, timber furniture, brushed nickel fittings and linen in sand or charcoal. Hang the larger squares on their own rather than in a group.
