A paper print costs less and fits a desk, a shelf or a small wall. It is printed on archival matte paper and sent flat in a protective sleeve, or framed in black, white or oak, ready to hang.

Dog art and dog prints from your photo

Generic dog art shows a dog. Your print shows your dog: the curly ears, the white blaze, the slightly crooked grin. Any breed works, and mixed breeds too, because we draw from your photo, not a template.

Pick a photo taken at your dog's eye level, with both eyes in view. If you are not sure it is good enough, upload it anyway and we will tell you on the proof.

Are pet prints hand-painted?

No. Your pet is illustrated from your photo and printed on canvas or archival matte paper. For a portrait painted by hand in oils, see our oil painting portrait from your photo.

Which style should I choose?

Modern on colour (A) is the most popular gift. Fine-art (B) suits a living room with other art. Royal (C) is the funny one. Line art (D) suits a calm, modern room. All four cost the same.

Can I get dog line art of my own dog?

Yes. Choose style D. We draw your dog from your photo as a single-line ink drawing and print it on canvas or paper.

What photo works best?

A clear, well-lit photo taken at your pet's eye level, with both eyes and the shape of the ears in view. Phone photos are fine. If you are unsure, upload it anyway and we will tell you on the proof.

Can I order now and send the photo later?

Yes. Tick "I'll email my photo later" on the product page, then email the photo to info@directartaustralia.com.au with your order number. We start as soon as it arrives. It suits a gift when the photo is on someone else's phone.

Can I see it before it is printed?

Yes. We email a free proof within 2 business days. Changes are free, and nothing is printed until you approve it.

Can you put two or three pets in one print?

Yes, up to three. Send a separate photo of each pet. Each extra pet adds $30.

How long does delivery take?

Can I use a photo a professional photographer took?

Only with their permission, because the photographer usually owns the copyright. The Attorney-General's Department copyright guide explains who owns a photo. Your own phone photos are always fine.
