About Da Vinci & our reproductions
The life
Leonardo da Vinci was one of the defining figures of the Renaissance — painter, sculptor, architect and engineer in one restless mind. He began his education in Florence under the sculptor Andrea del Verrocchio before relocating to Milan in 1482, where he created significant works including The Virgin of the Rocks and The Last Supper.
Returning to Florence, he produced his most celebrated painting, the Mona Lisa. Late in life he accepted and bore the title of First Painter, Architect and Engineer to the King under the patronage of Francis I of France, spending his final years at Amboise absorbed in scientific research and artistic theory until his death in 1519.
