About Calm Navy Horse
A single horse stands facing forward and slightly to the left, drawn with quick navy ink outlines that skip, double back and trail off rather than closing the shape. Caramel and tan watercolour washes sit under and around those lines, pooling darkest through the chest, shoulder and raised tail, fading to pale beige across the belly and hind leg. The mane falls in loose brown strokes, the tail lifts high to the right, and the front legs taper to thin ink marks near the base.
The background is plain off-white, so the washes read as soft, slightly uneven pools with visible edges where the pigment dried. The character is relaxed and unfinished on purpose: a fast life-drawing feel, warm earth colour against cool navy, with enough white space to keep the whole thing light.
Suits bedrooms, hallways and home offices with warm neutral walls, oak or rattan furniture and linen bedding. The navy line picks up navy cushions or a dark timber frame, while the tan washes sit well with leather, jute and cream. Works alone above a bedhead or paired with a second animal sketch.
