About Fisherman's Wharf Two
A square harbour scene built almost entirely with the palette knife. On the left, a cluster of grey timber sheds sits on pilings over the water, their roofs and plank walls scraped in short flat strokes of slate, teal and white, with small red and blue marks picking out doors and shutters. A fishing boat with a tall thin mast is moored in front, its hull white and ochre, a burnt orange sail or flag hanging beside it. A second shed stands at the right edge with a low jetty and a small boat.
Above, the sky is thick with grey and near-black cloud broken by a pale gap of light that spills onto the flat water in a broad white streak. A tiny white sailing boat sits on the horizon. The character is moody and weather-worn, the heavy ridged paint giving the storm and the old timber real physical texture.
Suits a living room, hallway or study with timber, exposed brick or grey-painted walls. The charcoal and teal palette works with navy lounges, linen upholstery and black-framed photography. Good above a sideboard or fireplace in a coastal home where a bright beach scene would feel too light. Browse more seascape oil paintings, square paintings, all hand-painted oil paintings.
