About the Art Guides
The Art Guides are written by The Salon Desk, the editorial team at Direct Art Australia. We help Australians choose art with confidence, whether that means the right size for a wall, the right finish, what to order for Christmas or Mother's Day, or how to give a hand-painted portrait as a gift.
How we write the guides
- From our own catalogue. Sizes, finishes and lead times match exactly what you'll see when you order. Where a painting only comes in certain sizes, we say so.
- Checked against primary sources. Dates, titles and where famous paintings hang are checked against the museums and galleries that hold them, and linked where useful.
- From the questions customers ask. Our team answers questions about sizing, framing, portraits and delivery every week, and the guides are built around them.
- Honest about what you receive. Our paintings are hand-painted in oils on canvas by professional, university-trained artists. Our canvas prints are clearly labelled as prints. Reproductions carry no forged signature and are not artificially aged.
- Kept up to date. Guides show the date they were published and when they were last updated. Seasonal guides, such as Christmas ordering, are reviewed every year.
