About Autumn Mirror Lake
A long band of autumn trees runs across the centre of the canvas, set against a wide sky of pale duck-egg blue. The foliage is built from rust, copper and burnt orange, broken by two or three trees in olive and sage and one in muted teal. Slender dark trunks rise through the colour, drawn with thin vertical strokes. Flecks of cream and white are spattered across the branches like scattered light, and the outer edges of the tree line fade softly into the sky.
Below the trees the colour streaks straight down into still water, the reflection stretched and blurred into vertical runs of red, brown and grey over a broad expanse of pale blue. The mood is quiet and atmospheric rather than literal, with the shoreline suggested only by where the sharp foliage gives way to the soft downward drag of the brush.
Suits a wide wall above a sofa, sideboard or bedhead, particularly in rooms with white, grey or soft blue walls. The rust and copper tones work with timber furniture, tan leather and woven rugs, while the pale blue keeps it calm enough for a bedroom, study or coastal-style living room.
