About Tidal Glow at Dusk
A wide beach at low tide fills the lower half of the canvas, the wet sand streaked with ochre, rust and pale grey and catching a long reflection of the sky. Shallow water runs in flat channels towards the viewer, broken by ridges of darker sand. Beyond the flats, low white surf breaks in thin repeated lines across the middle distance. Above, a heavy band of grey and blue-violet cloud presses down from the top edge, split by a glowing horizontal opening of gold and apricot light just above the horizon.
Brushwork is smooth and blended in the sky, with softer scumbled edges where cloud meets light, while the sand is built from horizontal drags of thicker paint that suggest tide marks and wet grit. The overall character is quiet and weather-heavy: a still, cool beach lit briefly from one narrow gap in the cloud.
Suits a living room or bedroom with muted walls, timber floors and linen upholstery, where the ochre and slate tones sit easily with rattan, wool and aged brass. Works well above a low sideboard or bedhead, and pairs with other coastal or earthy landscape pieces rather than bright colour.
