About Opal Tide
The canvas is split into horizontal bands. The upper third is smooth and pale, a milky wash of cream and soft green crossed by a thin ribbon of blue and gold flecks near the top edge. Below that the surface changes completely: dense, granular clusters of turquoise, cobalt and emerald build up in layers, broken by warm ochre and metallic gold running in long drifts. Small pockets of white and pale grey open between the clusters like foam or light on shallow water.
The lower band repeats the pattern at a larger scale, with a curved seam of deep blue and gold sweeping from the left corner. Read as a whole it suggests a tidal flat or reef seen from above, held together by the calm empty space at the top. The character is quiet and mineral rather than dramatic.
Suits a coastal or contemporary living room above a low sofa, a bedroom with white or oatmeal bedding, or a wide hallway wall. Pairs with pale timber, linen, brass or chrome fittings and glass.
