About Sunlight Through the Shallows
A diagonal band of light runs from the lower left corner to the upper right, splitting a field of cobalt and mid blue. Within that band sit rounded turquoise cells, ringed in white, that read like the caustic net of sunlight on a sandy shallow bottom. Orange and marigold patches break through at the top edge, again at the left margin and in small flecks near the base, with yellow-green mixing where they meet the blues. White is dragged over the surface in thin, broken strokes so the blue underneath still shows.
Paint is applied in washed, overlapping layers with visible brush drag and a few scraped edges, so colours bleed rather than sit in hard shapes. The overall character is bright and loose: a water painting that stays abstract, reading as reflected light before it reads as a place.
Suits bathrooms, coastal bedrooms and light-filled hallways where the blue can bounce off white walls. Works above a pale timber sideboard, a linen bedhead or a white tiled vanity. Pairs with rattan, raw oak and pale grey upholstery, and with rust or terracotta cushions that pick up the orange patches.
