About Skyline in Flame and Rain
Blocks of scarlet, orange and rust rise in two clusters of towers on the left and right, separated by a pale grey opening of sky at the centre. Charcoal and near-black slabs stand between the warm buildings, with white and light blue verticals catching the light like glazed facades. Paint is laid on with a knife in flat, squared strokes, some scraped thin so the grey ground shows through, others ridged and thick at the edges of the tallest forms.
Along the lower third the shapes break into horizontal smears of teal, white and soft grey, reading as water or wet road holding the reflected reds. The mood is a city seen through rain at dusk: hot colour against cool grey, more suggestion than detail.
Suits a living room with grey or charcoal walls, a white hallway that needs a single point of warmth, or an office reception. Works above a dark leather sofa or a pale timber sideboard, and pairs with concrete, black steel and rust or terracotta cushions. The wide format fits over a long console.
