About Golden Canopy in Bloom
A single broad tree fills the upper two thirds of the canvas, its canopy spreading left across a pale blue-grey sky. The leaves are built from dabs and flicks of gold, ochre, olive and rust, with darker green clusters on the right side giving the crown weight. Two slim dark trunks fork upward at lower right, joined by two fainter trunks further right that fade into mist. The lower edge dissolves into washed lilac, cream and soft blue, with no defined horizon or ground line.
The paint sits thick in the foliage, with raised specks catching light like scattered leaves, while the background is thinned and blended almost to vapour. The character is quiet and hazy, a tree caught mid-autumn rather than a detailed portrait of one.
Suits living rooms and bedrooms with off-white, pale grey or soft green walls, and works above a linen sofa or a low timber sideboard. The gold and ochre foliage picks up brass lamps, rattan and warm oak. Also a calm choice for a hallway, dining room or consulting room where a muted landscape is wanted.
