About Gilded Forest Creek
Two slender trees stand off-centre in a soft grey mist, their crowns built from flecks of gold leaf laid over olive and bronze paint so the foliage catches light like late autumn sun. Behind them a thin screen of bare trunks fades into pale wash, with muted ochre and lilac suggesting more woodland further back. Across the lower third a shallow creek bed runs in chalky whites and greys, edged with rust-red grasses and a scatter of gold flecks that read as fallen leaves floating on water.
paint is thin and blended in the sky, then thicker and drier through the branches, where the brush has been dragged so the canvas weave shows. The gold is applied in small irregular patches rather than even coverage, giving the canopies a broken, shimmering surface. It is a quiet, hazy painting whose warmth comes entirely from the metallic highlights against a cool grey ground.
Suits a lounge room or main bedroom with pale walls, oak or walnut furniture and warm lamp light, where the gold catches the glow. Works above a low sideboard or bedhead, and pairs with linen upholstery, brass fittings and neutral rugs. The grey ground keeps it calm in an entry hall or dining room.
