About A Celebration
A single wine glass fills almost the whole canvas, tipped on a steep diagonal with its clear stem running off the lower right corner. A dark stream of red wine pours in from the top left, curling against the inside of the bowl and throwing up a crested wave of burgundy and crimson. White highlights streak along the rim and across the swirling surface, while two round droplets hang in mid-air, one catching a gold glint. The background is a warm wash of amber that lightens to pale yellow behind the glass and deepens to burnt orange at the edges.
Brushwork is smooth and controlled in the wine, with sharper strokes marking the glass edge and the airborne drops. The overall feel is theatrical and close-up, a frozen second of pouring seen far larger than life.
Suits dining rooms, a wine nook or bar cart wall, kitchen splashback walls and restaurant or cellar-door interiors. The amber ground works with timber tables, brass pendants and terracotta tones; the deep reds lift white or charcoal walls. Hang it as a single vertical statement above a sideboard or beside a wine rack. Browse more contemporary art, all hand-painted oil paintings.
