About Abstract Sunset
The image is built from long horizontal bands of colour with no hard edges anywhere. Across the lower third runs a bright ribbon of gold and orange light, widest on the right and tapering as it moves left, where it breaks into a few paler streaks. Above it sits a soft grey-mauve layer, then a broad wash of deep red that darkens to near black in the top corners. Below the light band the tones fall away through burnt brown into a flat, almost black foreground.
Everything looks slightly out of focus, as though seen through moving air or a long exposure, so the colours melt into one another rather than meeting. The character is quiet and warm: a single line of fire holding back two large areas of darkness.
Works in a bedroom above the bedhead, in a living room over a low sideboard, or in a home office where a dark wall needs one point of warmth. It sits well with charcoal linen, walnut timber and brass lamps, and pairs with other abstract colour-field prints in orange or deep red tones.
