About Abstract World Map
A full world map fills the canvas in landscape format, with the Americas at left and Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia spreading right. The landmasses are rendered in pale gold and amber, bleached almost to cream in places, while the oceans are a deep burnt brown and rust that darkens towards the upper right and the corners. Coastlines are loose and broken rather than accurate, dissolving into drips, blotches and watermarks. Faint horizontal banding and mottled staining run across the surface like aged paper.
The character is weathered and cartographic rather than precise: a map treated as a stain, warm and antique in tone, with strong contrast between glowing gold continents and dark earthy sea.
Suits a home office above a desk, a study, a living room with leather, timber and tan furniture, or a hallway that needs a single strong horizontal piece. It works against white, cream or charcoal walls and pairs with brass lamps, globes, bookshelves and warm rug tones. A good choice for a teenager's room too. The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
