About Airplane
A portrait canvas washed in ochre and gold brown, rubbed back so the colour shifts from warm tan at the edges to a paler glow through the centre. Top left, four red spear shapes sit behind a loose black grid, with a small red blob floating below them. To the right, a tall column of drizzled cream and white line scribbles down from the top edge. Across the middle, a band of long black lines crosses the canvas like a flat horizon. Below, thin black lines rise into stick-like forms capped with pale blue triangles.
The mood is quiet and graphic: a few strong marks placed on a large warm ground, with the drizzled white column and red spears carrying most of the energy.
Works in a lounge or hallway with warm neutrals, timber floors and tan leather, and suits an entry wall above a hall table. The ochre ground sits well against off-white or clay-painted walls. Pair with brass or black metal lamps, linen furnishings and a single red or terracotta cushion to pick up the spear shapes.
