About Alpha Color
A single rooster stands side-on against a plain white ground, painted in thin, fluid strokes that behave more like watercolour than heavy oil. The tail arcs up and to the left in long feathered sweeps of turquoise, cobalt, rust red, olive green and violet, with white canvas left bare between the strokes. The neck runs bright yellow into the breast, the body is mostly white with cool blue-grey shading, and the comb, wattle and face are a clear scarlet. One slim leg meets a faint grey ground line.
The character is light and quick: a farmyard bird treated as a study in colour rather than detail, cheerful without being cartoonish.
Suits a kitchen, breakfast nook or country-style dining room, and works in a hallway where a tall narrow wall needs colour. The white background sits well on pale or limewashed walls, with timber furniture, rattan chairs and blue-and-white ceramics picking up the tail colours.
