A square marshland scene in a painterly style, built from broad horizontal bands. The sky runs from burnt orange at the top through honey yellow to cream near the horizon, with soft streaks that suggest low cloud at dusk. A grey-blue hill rises faintly at the right edge, almost lost in the haze.
Along the left, rounded shrubs are worked in dry, scratchy brushstrokes of ochre, olive and brown, with pale flecks catching the light. A ribbon of pale blue water curves in from the lower right and narrows into the golden flats behind. A small tufted bush sits in the bottom right corner, and a dark brown bank fills the foreground.
