A low sun sits just above the horizon, breaking through a gap beneath a thin band of dark cloud. The sky glows in deep orange and yellow, with soft streaks of cloud fading toward the top of the frame. The horizon runs straight across the upper middle of the image.
In the foreground, dark rounded pebbles are scattered across wet sand, each one catching a faint amber sheen. A long exposure has smoothed the sea into a misty, silky surface that shifts from lilac and mauve to gold where the sun reflects. It is a photograph with a calm, quiet mood.
