About Ambiguous Two
A slim dark stem rises from the lower left and ends in a tight crimson bud, painted with a bright white highlight down one side so it reads as glossy and almost wet. Behind it the canvas is flooded with amber and ochre washes that pool into bubbles and rings, as if pigment has been floated on liquid. On the right, heavier masses of red and near-black bloom outward from two more stems, their edges feathered and bleeding into the warm ground.
The lower third holds a broad cushion of mottled red, veined with dark brown. Brushwork alternates between thin transparent glazes and thicker drawn lines, giving the surface depth without heavy impasto. The character is quiet but intense: a flower study dissolved into abstraction, warm and slightly smoky rather than decorative.
Suits a warm-toned lounge, dining room or entry where the reds can carry a plain wall. Works against cream, clay or charcoal paint, and sits well above a timber sideboard or leather chair. Pairs with brass lamps, ceramic vessels and other abstract pieces in ochre or rust. Browse more floral art, abstract oil paintings, orange art.
