A single anemone fills the middle of a portrait frame against a clean white background. It is shown in an X-ray style, so the petals look translucent, pale grey and finely veined, like thin glass with ink lines running from the centre to the edges.
Between the pale petals sit darker, denser petals in near-black, which gives the flower a striped, star-like rhythm. At the heart is a solid black disc ringed with small dark stamens. The image is a black and white photograph with no colour, and there is generous empty white space around the bloom.
