About Attacus Atlas Moth
A single Atlas moth fills the centre of the frame with its wings fully spread, symmetrical from tip to tip. The upper wings sweep out and hook upward at the corners, each carrying a pale cream crescent and a long triangular window near the body. The lower wings are broader and rounded, scalloped along their outer edge with small dark dots, and marked with two bright triangular patches. A stout, furred body and short antennae sit at the centre.
The background is a mottled wash of rust orange, burnt red and ochre with olive-green streaks, scratched and faded like aged paper, with a faint ruled border and the words ATTACUS ATLAS MOTH set in small type near the lower edge. It reads as a page lifted from an old natural history plate: warm, weathered and quietly scientific rather than decorative.
The warm rust and ochre tones suit a living room with timber furniture, leather or terracotta accents, or a home office above a desk. It works in a bedroom on a white or clay-coloured wall, and pairs well with other framed natural history prints, brass lamps and woven or rattan pieces in a beach house hallway.
