About Burleigh Head National Park

The view looks north-west along a rocky headland, with the horizon set high in the frame beneath a deep sapphire sky that lightens towards the sea. The water below runs from dark navy offshore to clear turquoise and pale mint in the shallows, where dark reef patches show through and a line of white foam breaks over a bank of black volcanic boulders. On the right, pandanus trees lean out from the headland, their spiky crowns of strap-like leaves catching full sun. Coarse grass and low scrub cover the rock shelf in the foreground.
