Six tall white birch trunks run the full height of this portrait image, marked with black bark scars and fine cracked texture. At the top left, a cluster of leaves in rust red, burnt orange and gold hangs over the trunks, and some leaves carry a faint embossed pattern. A bare black branch with thin twigs reaches across the upper right.
The background is a warm grey-taupe with faint scrolling damask-style patterns and pale ghosted leaves. Along the bottom, crisp black leaf silhouettes on thin stems rise in front of the trunks, while softer grey leaves sit behind on the right. It reads as a layered illustration, with a collage-like, textured finish.
