Tall, slim birch trunks rise on the right of the frame, their pale stems broken into dashes of cream, rust and yellow. The leaves are patches of orange, gold, red and a little green, laid on in thick, blocky strokes that read as an oil-style painting rather than a photograph.
On the left, a wide lake sits flat and quiet in washed blue, lilac and cream, with a faint grey-blue hill along the far shore under a pale sky. In the lower right, a rocky shelf in pink, tan and yellow edges the water. Dark purple and navy shadows between the trunks make the autumn colour stand out.
