A black and white photograph of a leafless tree standing alone in shallow water, set left of centre. Its branches spread wide and fork into fine twigs, and a broken stump rises beside it. The trunk sits right on the flat horizon line, with a faint dark reflection beneath it.
A long exposure turns the moving water into pale, feathery streaks that fan out toward the viewer across the lower half. The sky is stretched into soft diagonal cloud trails, with a small pale sun glowing through a break at upper right. Tones run from deep charcoal to bright silver-white.
