A grey wolf faces the viewer head-on in a detailed graphite pencil drawing. Its pale eyes sit under a soft brow, and the dark, glossy nose is the strongest point of black on the page. The fur is built from fine layered strokes, light around the muzzle and cheeks and darker through the ruff and shoulders.
Behind the wolf, pale birch-style trunks with scattered dark marks fill the background, while a dark trunk cuts down the left side and a narrow dark vertical runs near the right edge. The whole image is in greys on white, with soft shading and visible pencil grain. A small signature and date sit at the lower right.
