A tidal creek runs from the lower left to the quay, its surface smooth and glassy so the moored boats are reflected in long soft streaks. Two small blue dinghies and a cream-hulled rowing boat sit close to the timber landing in the foreground, while tall wooden posts rise at the right edge.
Beyond them, yachts with bare masts line the concrete quay wall. Behind the white railings stand a red-tiled flint building and a brick hotel with lit windows. The sky is a clear, cool blue fading to pale at the horizon, and the dusk light gives the whole photograph a calm, quiet tone, with an orange lifebuoy as the one bright accent.
