Slender brown branches cross a pale, near-white background streaked with faint vertical washes. Along them sit clusters of five-petalled blossoms in denim blue, slate and soft grey-blue, with a few deeper navy centres. The flowers are loose and slightly uneven, their edges pooling where the pigment settled.
Between the blue blooms, smaller leaf and petal shapes in sandy taupe and beige fade in and out, some barely visible against the paper-like ground. Flowers gather at the upper left, the centre right and the lower left, leaving open white space between them. The square format gives a light, airy watercolour feel.
