A large flower with broad indigo and cobalt petals fills the centre of a square frame. Its petals fan out from a golden-yellow centre, with dark navy and near-black strokes marking the veins and the shadowed folds. Pale cream edges outline several petals and separate them from the background.
The whole surface is broken into small square patches of paint, like a mosaic, each with visible brush texture. Teal, violet, mustard and sage squares are scattered through the cream and grey-blue ground, so the flower dissolves into the background at its edges. The look is an abstract, textured painting with a cool palette warmed by touches of gold.
