A weathered plank path runs from the bottom right corner up through pale sand toward the water, its boards coloured in soft purples, blues and rusty browns. Clumps of dune grass crowd both sides, with tall golden seed heads reaching above the horizon and small pink and white flowers low on the left.
Beyond the dunes a band of deep blue sea carries a line of white-capped waves, and a single small white sail sits on the horizon at left. The sky shifts from lilac and powder blue to a warm yellow glow near the water. The soft, chalky strokes give it the look of a pastel painting.
