About Botanical Sketches II
A single compound leaf fills the centre of the composition, angled slightly to the right, with a slim stem running down to the lower edge. Around eighteen leaflets branch out in opposing pairs from a central stalk, each one filled with solid black ink and broken by thin unpainted chevrons that suggest veining. The background is a warm off-white with a faint paper texture, flecked here and there with small grey speckles. A handwritten signature sits low on the left side.
The character is graphic and calm: high contrast, no colour, and a deliberate hand-cut quality where the ink edges are slightly rough rather than mechanically sharp. It reads as a simple nature study rather than a decorative pattern.
Works in bathrooms, hallways and home offices where a small amount of contrast is needed against pale walls. Pairs naturally with its companion botanical print as a two-piece set, or with black-framed photographs. Sits well above white tiles, timber vanities, linen bedding and rattan or cane furniture.
