The view runs along the bow of a sailing boat, looking out to open water. A timber bowsprit angles up from the white deck towards the centre, with rigging lines pulled taut across the sky. A pale lilac sail fills the top left corner, its edge catching the light.
The sea is a deep teal with short, choppy brush strokes, meeting a thin horizon about halfway up. Above it the sky shifts from strong blue to a paler haze. Blue-grey deck fittings sit beside the bow, and warm browns and purples in the foreground add weight. The flat shapes and visible brushwork give it a painted look.
