About Bright City
A long band of high-rise towers runs across the centre of the canvas, blocked in with vertical knife strokes of charcoal, deep red, orange and ochre. Taller spires break the line near the middle and right, softening into a hazy pink and cream sky that is scraped almost flat at the top. Below the buildings, a wide stretch of water carries smeared reflections in warm rust and grey, pulled sideways so the shapes dissolve. Scattered white and yellow flecks read as windows and lights along the waterfront.
The mood is a city seen at distance through late light, where detail gives way to colour and edges blur into water and haze.
Built for a wide wall: above a long sofa in a lounge room, behind a dining table, or along a hallway with nothing competing beside it. The warm reds work with timber floors, tan leather and brick, while the grey water tones settle against white or concrete-look walls in apartments.
