About Brisbane Waters Jetty Sunset

A weathered timber jetty runs from the bottom edge straight into the centre of the frame, its white-painted side rails drawing the eye to a short cross platform and two mooring posts. Three small dinghies sit on the shallows around it: a white and pale blue boat at left, a blue hulled one beside the platform, and a white boat with timber trim at right, tied by a slack rope to a small orange float. The tide is low, and ribbed wet sand shows through on both sides.

Colour carries the image. The sky moves from a deep violet at the top through mauve to a band of burning orange and gold along the treeline, and that same band repeats as a soft reflection across the still water. Distant masts and a low dark shore close the horizon. The result is a quiet, symmetrical scene with strong perspective and unusually saturated evening colour.
