Eight butterflies are spread across a square field of bright hot pink. Each one is small and drawn in fine detail, with wings open and seen from above. They sit at different angles and heights, so the eye drifts from the top corners down to the lower left, where the smallest one sits.
The colours differ from one butterfly to the next: deep blue with a black body, green and black with a pale edge, brown with blue spots, yellow with black stripes, and orange with a dark tip. The pink behind them is streaked with vertical brush marks in lighter and darker pink, which gives the flat colour a soft texture. The mix of fine illustration and loose brushwork gives it a contemporary look.
