About Capsulated
The canvas is divided into interlocking blocks and soft-edged shapes in ochre, gold and chocolate brown. Two pale sand-coloured forms rise on the left and right like rounded columns, each cut by a thin dark arc near the top and base. Down the centre a vertical band runs the full height, crossed by shorter horizontal bars that read like a loose grid. Behind them, deep brown and olive rectangles sink back, some semi-transparent so earlier layers show through as smoky patches.
The surface is heavily worked: the light ochre areas carry a gritty, sand-like texture that catches the light, while the dark panels are thinly scrubbed and flat by comparison. It is a quiet, architectural abstract, warm rather than bright, with its interest in surface and balance rather than colour contrast.
Suits warm interiors with timber, leather and stone: a lounge room above a tan sofa, a dining wall beside oak furniture, or a reception area needing weight without brightness. It pairs with cream, caramel and charcoal furnishings, jute rugs and brass lamps, and works well under a warm picture light that picks up the sandy texture.
