A black cat silhouette stands on the lower left with its back arched and its tail raised straight up. The fur is solid black, with a patch of scuffed brown on the front legs and chest where the colour wears away. The cat faces right, looking toward the large word PARIS in the bottom right corner.
The background is a pale cream-pink, marked with scratches, water stains and rough edges like an old paper label. Across the top, "Chat Noir" is written in a large black script. Below it is an ornate banner reading "Mme Paul Charvet", then "Rue des Fabriques" in plain capitals. An oval stamp beside the cat reads "Articles de Tapisserie". It is an illustration in a vintage French style.
