White dogwood blossoms fill the square, their broad petals tipped with soft brown and centred with small golden-yellow stamens. Thin dark brown branches cross the surface in loose diagonals, linking flowers that range from crisp white to faded cream and beige. The blooms are scattered evenly, so the eye moves across the whole canvas.
Two chickadees sit among the branches, one near the top centre and one at the lower left. Each has a black cap, grey wings and a pale yellow-buff belly. Behind them the background is washed in pale teal blue and warm grey, with streaky vertical marks and a scuffed, layered texture like aged plaster. It reads as a painting in a muted, quiet palette.
