A Sioux chief in a feathered war bonnet fills the centre of the poster. He wears a blue coat, a yellow neckerchief and a white bone breastplate, and sits behind the head of a brown and white paint horse. In his right hand he holds a tall red lance trimmed with a long trail of black and white feathers.
Red block lettering across the top reads "BUFFALO BILL'S", with "WILD WEST & ROUGH RIDERS" beneath it. A yellow band along the bottom reads "A TRIBE OF SIOUX INDIANS ON THE TRAIL LED BY CHIEF IRON TAIL", with the name in blue. Mounted riders cross a grassy plain behind him under a pale blue sky. Old fold lines show in the lithograph.
