About Field Day
A soft mint and turquoise ground fills the canvas, broken up by short dragged blocks of pale pink, cream and powder blue that sit like scattered tiles across the middle band. Deeper notes appear in two places: a charcoal and navy passage at the upper left, and a larger indigo cluster just left of centre that anchors the composition. Over these darker patches the artist has flicked fine spatters of magenta, yellow, orange and lime, plus a single thin coral line that loops across the lower centre.
The effect is light and busy at the heart of the canvas and quiet at the edges, where the mint ground is left almost bare. A small signature in dark paint sits in the lower right corner.
Works in rooms with plenty of natural light: a white or pale grey living room wall, a bedroom above a linen bedhead, or a nursery. The mint and pink read well against blonde timber, rattan and pale linen, and the magenta and yellow flecks pick up brightly coloured cushions or ceramics.
