A single large peony fills most of the square, its ruffled petals layered in cream, butter yellow and soft tan. The bloom is cropped close, so petals run off the top, left and right edges. Brushy, textured strokes give the flower a soft, slightly worn look, with pale yellow highlights catching the upper petals.
The background is a deep plum purple with a scuffed, aged texture. Faint circular stamp-like marks and script sit over the petals. A slim green stem rises at the lower left and green leaves show at the corners. The word JAUNE is lettered in cream capitals along the bottom, beside a small ornate initial.
