A large cream peony sits left of centre with its petals opening around a bright amber and orange centre. The ruffled petals are softly shaded in grey and ivory, with small creases along their edges. A second, tighter peony hangs lower on the right, its layered petals still partly closed.
On the left a tall vertical panel in tan and gold carries a dark brown scrolled pattern with curling loops, mirrored down its length. The background is a deep chocolate brown with a mottled, canvas-like texture, and olive green leaves point out around both flowers. The look is of a softly textured painting in warm sepia tones.
